Apalutamide is a prescription cancer medicine used mainly in the treatment of prostate cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs called androgen receptor inhibitors (non-steroidal antiandrogens).

• Active ingredient: Apalutamide 60 mg per tablet.

Apalutamide works by blocking androgen receptors in prostate cancer cells. Androgens (like testosterone) normally help prostate cancer cells grow; blocking their effect can slow or stop cancer growth and spread.

Apalutamide 60 mg tablets are used in men to treat:

• Non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) — prostate cancer that hasn’t spread but no longer responds to lowering testosterone.

• Metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) — prostate cancer that has spread and still responds to hormone suppression.

These tablets are usually taken in combination with other hormone-lowering therapies (like GnRH analogues) unless surgical removal of the testes has been done.

• The typical treatment dose is 240 mg once daily — usually four 60 mg tablets taken together.

• Tablets are swallowed whole, with or without food.

• Take at about the same time each day as prescribed.
